It was rumored yesterday, but now it’s official. Ron Howard will be finishing the Han Solo spinoff film of the Star Wars universe.

Howard is replacing the duo of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who exited the project amid creative differences with LucasFilms’ Kathleen Kennedy and Lawrence Kasdan. Howard will begin work on the film immediately. However, the Director’s Guild of America will make the decision on who will be credited once it is complete. Could it be Howard? Could it be Lord and Miller? Could it be all three?

The film is more than halfway complete before Lord and Miller’s exit so it is unclear how much Howard will have to finish.

More as this develops…
