Sad news for those who have been waiting for the Han Solo spinoff/prequel of the Star Wars universe. The directors of the film are no longer working on it.
It has been announced that Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (above) have left the film and it is all too familiar problem that have caused the duo to leave: creative differences. Their style of filmmaking, which resulted in hits such as 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie, originally attracted the attention of LucasFilm Ltd. head Kathleen Kennedy.
However, the duo soon learned that Kennedy and SW universe writer/consultant Lawrence Kasdan have a certain way of doing things and it just didn’t mesh with their style of doing things. Unhappy with Kennedy’s tight grip on the set, clashing emerged on a consistent basis, prompting the duo to exit the film.
Lord and Miller had this to say:
“Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew.”
A new director is expected to be announced soon. Nevertheless, Alden Ehrenerich, Donald Glover and Woody Harrelson are still in the film. More as this shocking news develops.
