In a bit of shocking news, in the wake of a recent family tragedy, Zack Snyder (left) has exited the Justice League film, which is currently in post-production and will be doing reshoots soon.
The news comes that Snyder and his producer wife Deborah have decided to leave the film two months after the suicide of their daughter Autumn in March. Snyder gave an official statement regarding the matter in a recent interview:
“In my mind, I thought it was a cathartic thing to go back to work, to just bury myself and see if that was way through it. The demands of this job are pretty intense. It is all consuming. And in the last two months, I’ve come to the realization …I’ve decided to take a step back from the movie to be with my family, be with my kids, who really need me. They are all having a hard time. I’m having a hard time.”
However, all is not lost as Snyder has decided to hand over the reigns of post-production to Joss Whedon, who is also developing a solo Batgirl film for the DC Extended Universe. Whedon will be handling the post and reshoots with Snyder’s vision in mind.
World Film Geek sends its condolences to Zack Snyder and his family.
Post-production is still underway for Justice League‘s November 7th release date from Warner Bros.
