Let’s be honest…The Matrix can be considered a groundbreaking sci-fi film with its dazzling use of special effects and Hong Kong-style wire fu effects that would become a temporary staple in Hollywood.

While the first film was groundbreaking, the first sequel The Matrix Reloaded did quite well, but The Matrix Revolutions ended in a way that didn’t really go well with fans. However, the trilogy of films was the beginning of Keanu Reeves actually proving he can be an action star with all the hard work he put inot training for the films.

Last week, out of nowhere, Warner Bros. announced they were going to plan a “reboot” to the 1999 hit sci-fi film from the Wachowskis. However, is it really going to be a reboot or will it actually be a continuation, sort of looking at the aftermath of what happens after Revolutions?

Screenwriter Zak Penn somewhat answered that question:

“Can’t comment yet except to say that the words ‘reboot’ and ‘remake’ were from an article. Let’s stop responding to inaccurate news. If I were going to recast Keanu Reeves, I would cast Keanu Reeves. Do I want to see more stories set in the universe of the Matrix? Yes. Because it’s a brilliant idea that generates great stories. Look at what people are doing with X-Men universe. Between Logan and Legion and Deadpool, does anyone want them to stop? Not me.”
