A biopic about one of the United Kingdom’s most beloved wrestling families is in the works with Dwayne Johnson serving as producer along with WWE Studios.

Fighting with My Family is the story of the Bevis family, which consists of reformed gangster turned pro wrestler Ian, his wrestler wife Julia, and their children Saraya and Zak. Ian would perform under the name Ricky Knight with Julia performing under the name Sweet Saraya. While the family compete in small venues for independent promotions in the UK, Saraya and Zak have dreams of making it big in the WWE.

Saraya would follow her father and at first become Brittani Knight, wrestling for women’s promotion SHIMMER before living her dream and become current WWE superstar Paige. While Zak didn’t make it in the WWE, he is happily in the World Association of Wrestling as Zak Zodiac.

Nick Frost has signed to play Ian “Ricky Knight” Bevis. Lena Headey has signed to play Julia “Sweet Saraya” Bevis”. As of yesterday, Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions has signed Vince Vaughn to play a former 80’s superstar who eventually went through a downward spiral.

Playing the future Paige and Zak Zodiac are Florence Pugh and Jack Lowden.

Writing and directing the film is Stephen Merchant, usually known for his comedic talent. This looks to be a welcome departure project, in which the Bevis family have been given their full blessing.

Fighting with My Family is gearing for a 2018 release date. More as this develops.
