“Chainsaw” Prequel to Bring Heroine’s Father

While we still wait for the release of Leatherface, the prequel of the 1974 original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, details have emerged revolved the appearance of a new character with ties to the original.

Julian Kostov is listed in the Internet Movie Database’s cast list of the film as “Ted Hardesty”. Screenwriter Seth M. Sherwood has revealed that Ted is the father of Sally and Franklin Hardesty, the latter who met his fate with the titular weapon in the 1974 classic terror film and the former the original survivor and the prototype for horror films’ “final girl”.

A scene was shot involving Ted Hardesty as the original Hardesty home was within walking distance from the Sawyers, obviously noted in the original film. This sounds pretty interesting.

Leatherface stars Stephen Dorff, Sam Strike, Vanessa Grasse, James Bloor, Sam Coleman, Angela Bettis, Lili Taylor, and Finn Jones. The film is due for release later this year from Lionsgate and Millennium Films.
