Fans of the manga & anime Gintama will get their first taste of the live action film next summer when it is released in Japan.
The first official images showcase the trio of Gintori Sakama, played by Shun Oguri (center); Shinpachi Shimura, played by Masaki Suda (right); and Kagura, played by Kanna Hashimoto. For Suda and Kagura, it is a reunion as both were members of the cast of the Assassination Classroom films respectively as Karma Akabane and the AI student Ritsu. Oguri recently appeared as the titular character in Lupin III‘s live action film.
Yuichi Fukuda helms the film and wrote the screenplay based on the manga by Hideaki Sorachi. The film revolves around samurai warrior Gintori, who looks for work in an alternate feudal Tokyo where aliens have invaded.
The film will be out next summer from Warner Brothers Japan. As soon as an international release is announced, we will update you.
