British-based filmmaker Chee Keong Cheung is about to unleash a real zombie apocalypse in his latest film.

The 13/Underground and Bodyguard: A New Beginning director is unleashing Redcon-1, which during shooting had the title Zombie Apocalypse. Cheung had quite an idea about how this film would not be like the zombie films of old. According to the press release of the film:

“Some years ago I wondered what would happen if zombies could retain some of their previous life skills… What if they were combat based? And how would a small troop of soldiers survive being sent into the heart of a seething mass of the undead, who don’t just bite… they fight back too.”

In the film, eight members of Special Forces are sent on a suicide mission to rescue a scientist in the now infested areas of the U.K. because the scientist may have a way to end the zombie ourbreak once and for all. Soon enough, this team will learn these are no ordinary zombies they will be dealing with.

The cast includes Boyka: Undisputed villain Martyn Ford, martial artist and filmmaker Mark Strange, former WWE superstar Katarina Leigh WatersStreet Fighter: Assassin’s Fist‘s Akira KoieyamaBlack Mask 2‘s Oris Erhuero, and the original El Mariachi himself, Carlos Gallardo.

Cheung and Strange produced the film and co-wrote the film with Steve Horvath. The film is executive produced by Gallardo and Kevin Eastman, best known as the co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The film is due for release sometime in 2017.
