In what could be some very interesting news, hot off the heels of the success of the live-action Jungle Book, Disney hopes to unleash more lightning with another re-imagining.
The Disney film in mind? The Lion King. What is confirmed is that Jon Favreau (right), who directed the live action Jungle Book, will be directing this new imagining of the classic 1994 animated hit revolving around Simba, the future Lion King, who is forced out of Pride Rock after the death of his father, King Mufasa, by his evil Uncle Scar. Favreau took to Instagram to confirm his involvement.
So the question is, “How are they going to pull this off”? Well, plans are to use the same technology that made The Jungle Book‘s animals come to life in the film. Favreau is also developing a sequel to The Jungle Book as well as serving as executive producer on The Avengers: Infinity War, the first of a two-part epic featuring Marvel’s top superheroes to be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo.
Currently in development, both The Jungle Book 2 and The Lion King have no release dates set, but both will come from Disney.
