Remakes are becoming common ground in Hollywood and all over the world. The latest movie in development to get the remake treatment is Alien Nation, which starred James Caan as a L.A. detective who joins forces with an extraterrestrial detective, played by Mandy Patinkin when in the future, the aliens have settled in Los Angeles.

The film spawned a television series from 1989 to 1990 that starred Gary Graham in the Caan role and Eric Pierpoint in the Patinkin role. The series would spawn five made-for-television films from 1994 to 1997 with all of the original TV cast returning to bring closure to the TV version.

Twenty-eight years after the original theatrical film, Fox is now developing a reboot with Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special, Loving) hired to write and direct the film.

Look out for the new Alien Nation in the future.
