And then, there were three. Three names are on the official shortlist to direct Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel starring Brie Larson in the titular role.
After rumored named Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Jennifer Kent dropped out on contention, the shortlist now includes Whale Rider director Niki Caro (left), TV series director Lesli Linka Glatter (center), and The Meddler director Lorene Scafaria.
Brie Larson, this year’s Academy Award-winning Best Actress, will play Carol Danvers, a test pilot whose DNA merges with an alien after an accident, giving her superhuman powers as she becomes the titular Captain Marvel. Nicole Perlman and Meg LaFauve wrote the screenplay.
However, there is still plenty of time as Captain Marvel has been set for a March 8, 2019 release date from Marvel Studios.
