In 1988, audiences were introduced to a new menacing demon known simply as Pumpkinhead, who was summoned by a witch at the mercy of a single father whose son was accidentally killed by a group of teens. However, the father soon has second thoughts and may be the only one capable to destroy the demon as it hunts down the teens one by one. There have been sequels and a comic book series that followed due to the film’s success.

The film was the directorial debut of the legendary special effects wizard Stan Winston and in the wake of many films getting remade, add this one to the list.

Peter Brown, one of the executive producers of the Saw franchise, has acquired the rights to remake the film and has hired Nate Atkins to script the film. Perhaps in an effort to pay tribute to Winston, who passed away in 2008, Brown promises the film will rely on practical horror movie effects rather than the use of CGI.

This is one demon you do not ever want to cross. As the film is still in development, Pumpkinhead may see the light of day in 2017 or 2018.
