Coming this October in Japan, a new installment of the live action adaptation of the manga & anime Death Note will be arriving.

Death Note: Light Up the New World or Death Note 2016 as it is also called, takes place ten years after the last installment Death Note: The Last Name and gives us an update on the main character Light Yagami (reprised by Tatsuya Fujiwara), who holds a book where the person’s name he writes suffers death and his archenemy, the mysterious detective only known as L (reprised by Kenichi Matsuyama). Erika Toda also returns as Misa Amane and they are joined by new cast members Masaki Suda, who looks to play a mastermind named Yugi Shion. The film was directed by Shinsuke Sato.

This comes as the long-developed American remake of the film has begun production under the direction of Adam Wingard and stars Nat Wolff as Light, Margaret Qualley as May (Misa), and Keith Stanfield as L. That version will be an exclusive Netflix film set for 2017.

Meanwhile, Death Note: Light Up the New World will be coming in Japanese theaters on October 29.
