Some major casting news around the Power Rangers film currently in production has arrived in the casting of the Rangers’ iconic mentor, Zordon.
Bryan Cranston, best known for his role as Walter White on the hit series Breaking Bad, went to Twitter this week to confirm his casting in the Dean Israelite film as the alien warrior who takes five teens with attitude (in this new version, major attitude) and helps them become the titular team.
Cranston is actually a Power Rangers veteran himself. He was a villain voice actor in the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers series that ran from 1993-1996 and as a matter of fact, the Blue Ranger’s name is Billy Cranston, named after the actor.
Cranston joins Elizabeth Banks, who plays the villainess Rita Repulsa and newcomers Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler. Becky G, and Ludi Lin as the new Power Rangers.
Production is still underway with an official date of March 24, 2017 set from Lionsgate and Saban Films.
