Filmmaker Eli Roth, more known for directing horror genre films, yet he has done his fair share of action by co-writing the original The Man with the Iron Fists and appearing in Quentin Tarentino‘s Inglorious Basterds, has signed on to direct a reboot version of a classic action tale.

Roth has been chosen to direct Death Wish, the remake of the classic 1974 action thriller that starred Charles Bronson as an architect who takes matters into his own hands when his wife is killed and daughter brutalized at the hands of a local street gang. The original film was based on a novel by Brian Garfield. Roth replaces Israeli filmmakers Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado, who left the film with the all-too familiar “creative differences”.

Bruce Willis is attached to play the role originated by Bronson with Roger Birnbaum serving as producer with Scott Alexander and Larry Karazewski on hand writing the current script.

It is unclear when we will see Death Wish, but it looks like it may be coming sooner than expected if all goes as planned.
