In what is perhaps one of the biggest news in terms of movie franchises, Disney has announced that the legendary adventurer and professor Henry “Indiana” Jones is returning! And yes folks, when we say Indiana Jones, we do mean in fact, Harrison Ford!
Ford and the film series’ director, Steven Spielberg, will be reuniting for a fifth installment on July 19, 2019. After the 2008 fourth film, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, there have been many rumors astounding about where the series would go. When LucasFilm was acquired by Disney, rumors abounded to have Indy rebooted with Chris Pratt playing Indy in a new film. Whether Pratt will be involved or not in any manner with the new film is up in the air at this point.
However, Disney has put any sort of reboot rumors to rest with today’s blockbuster announcement of bringing the 73-year old Ford back to one of his most iconic roles. Unlike the previous installments, George Lucas will not be involved in the yet-untitled film, but franchise producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will return to produce the new film.
Ford has been keeping busy as of late. He recently reprised another iconic role, Han Solo, in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and is gearing up to reprise his role of Rick Deckard in Blade Runner II alongside Ryan Gosling in 2018.
Meanwhile, look for the return of Indiana Jones on July 19, 2019.
