This Halloween, ghouls and goblins, crazies and loonies, you better beware because someone is gunning for you and it ain’t the Ghostbusters! It is Mabel Simmons, but you can call the “Ma” to the “D-E-A”!
What originally started as a trailer within a movie in Chris Rock‘s 2014 film Top Five is becoming a reality. Tyler Perry, the creator of the popular Madea film series, is currently in Atlanta, where he is shooting the new film Boo! A Madea Halloween. Lionsgate will be distributing the film with Tyler Perry’s TPS Studios producing the film. Perry wrote the script, produced, directed and reprises his signature role of Madea as well as play Madea’s brother Joe and nephew Brian.
In the film, Madea will be watching misbehaved kids and fending off against all sorts of ghosts, goblins, killers, and other supernatural elements one would expect on Halloween. The supporting cast include Cassi Davis, Patrice Lovely, Bella Thorne, Yousef Eremat, and Andre Hall.
This will be the ninth film of the series, with the last one being an animated film, 2015’s Madea’s Tough Love. Perry is one of the busiest people in Hollywood today. Aside from his Madea films, Perry is busy directing and writing the hit OWN series “For Better or Worse”, “The Have and Have Nots”, and “Love Thy Neighbor”. He will also be seen in April as Dr. Baxter Stockman in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows opposite Megan Fox and Stephen Amell.
Lionsgate plans to release Boo! A Madea Christmas on October 21, 2016.
