Many may have heard the news a while back that action star Jackie Chan would be starring in a film entitled The Foreigner, with Martin Campbell (Goldeneye) at the helm. Well, the film is currently undergoing a title change which has not been revealed yet, but some major casting news has been announced.
The Wrap has gotten word that former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has signed on to team up with Chan in the film. Chan will play a restaurateur who must go against everything he stands for when the justice system fails in going after a group of rogue Irish terrorists responsible for the death of his daughter. Brosnan will play Liam Hennessy, an ex-IRA member turned government official.
Brosnan was in fact Bond when Martin Campbell made Goldeneye, so the yet newly-titled film will reunite Brosnan with Campbell. Meanwhile, Chan is currently working on Kung Fu Yoga. Wayne Marc Godfrey and Arthur Sarkissian, the latter who produced Chan’s Rush Hour trilogy, will be producing the film, with a script by David Marconi and Peter Buchman. The script is based on the novel The Chinaman, written by Stephen Leather.
Filming is scheduled to begin next year.
