While fans are eagerly anticipating the release of the reboot of the 1989 martial arts action film Kickboxer, which will feature stuntman Alain Moussi in his first lead role, Radar Pictures practically shocked the community with a major announcement.
While Kickboxer: Vengeance will be seen sometime in 2016, a sequel has already been officially announced at a press conference by Radar Pictures’ Dimitri Logothesis, who spear-headed the reboot. While many will know the original Kickboxer 2 as a launch pad for Sasha Mitchell, who would play Kurt and Eric Sloane’s younger brother David, one thing is for sure about this sequel to the reboot. Alain Moussi will officially reprise his role of Kurt Sloane for the sequel, which will have the title of Kickboxer: Retaliation.
Kickboxer: Vengeance co-stars Sara Malakul Lane, Gina Carano, Georges St. Pierre, Darren Shahlavi, Matthew Ziff, T.J. Storm, with Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dave Bautista as Tong Po. While that film will be released in 2016, we may see Kickboxer: Retaliation in 2017.
