UFC women’s champion Ronda Rousey is preparing to clean up the Double Deuce! You heard right. The MMA champion is gearing up to star in the lead role in a reboot of the 1989 cult classic Road House.
Rousey would play the role originated by the late, great Patrick Swayze, a bouncer who is asked to help clean up the rowdiest, loudest bar in the Missouri, the Double Deuce. Along the way, she must face off against an evil businessman who has pretty much taken the town under his iron fist with the help of his goons.
The news had not been mentioned until now because Rousey wanted to get the blessing of Lisa Niemi-DePrisco, Swayze’s widow. She got the blessing and now, she will be ready to take on those barflies and corrupt goons in an all out knockout dragout.
But just wait…the script is not ready yet as screenwriters are currently in talks with filming to begin in 2016.
Rousey already has other projects lined up including Mile 22, The Athena Project, and her auto-biopic My Fight/Your Fight. Mile 22, which will co-star Mark Wahlberg and Iko Uwais, begins production in February after her November fight against Holly Holm.
